Decorative Vegetable Gardening.  June date TBA.  MG

Jr. Green Thumbs Gardening Classes.  June - August.  Elementary-aged children will plant, care for, and harvest a field of veggies on our farm.  Children will also learn about using herbs, growing strawberries, and the caterpillar/butterfly life cycle.  Parents, grandparents, caregivers etc. can enjoy the Greenhouse while the kids participate.  Jr. Green Thumbs Club page.  Instructed by Karen Moore.

The Use of Color in Landscape and Container Garden Design.  Friday, June 13 at 6:30 pm.  Learn the basics of designing with color, including technique and color schemes.  The use of a color wheel will be demonstrated.  Instructed by Melanie Bedner.

Perennial Gardening Discussion Group.  Saturday, June 14 at 4:00 pm.  Celebrate Perennial Gardening Month with this fun, interactive discussion on perennial gardening.  Learn basic perennial plant identification and care.  Facilitated by Melanie Bedner.

Tree and Shrub Selection and Care

Saturday, September 20 at 2:00 pm.  Confused about what to plant where?  Learn tips on selecting the right plant for the right location.  Get new, exciting ideas that go beyond the basic Yew, Rhododendron, or Weeping Cherry tree.  Instructed by Russ and Melanie Bedner.

Fall Decorating Discussion Group.  Saturday, October 4 at 4:00 pm.  Come learn fall craft and decorating ideas, and share your ideas with others.  Facilitated by Bedner staff.

Planting Perennial Bulbs. October date TBA.  MG

Art Under Glass.  Saturday, October 4th.  Our third annual celebration of local artwork and the fall season.  The fun includes: local artists, live music, balloon artist, food, and pumpkin painting.

Giant Pumpkin Weigh-In.  Winners of the contest will be announced at Art Under Glass on October 4th.  To enter the pumpkin growing contest, purchase a pumpkin plant for $1 this spring and fill out an entry form.

There is no charge for any of the following seminars and workshops.  Container garden workshops are free, besides the cost of plants, if planting a container.  Please be sure to register by calling or filling out the online registration form, (which will be posted within two weeks of the event).  Some classes have limited space.

The following workshop is presented by a Penn State Cooperative Extension of Washington County Master Gardener.

Master Gardeners are volunteers who support Penn State Cooperative Extension's educational programs in consumer horticulture. They develop their horticultural expertise through participation in educational programs conducted by Penn State University faculty and cooperative extension staff. There is no fee for MG seminars/workshops, unless to cover the cost of materials for participants.
