Landscape Designer
Join us in our Mission to connect others to the benefits of nature through flourishing landscapes. Our Landscape Department specializes in residential design, build, and maintenance services. We believe in pursuing excellence in everything that we do and feel a strong commitment to serving our community and making lives better through creating beautiful outdoor spaces. Over ¾ of the plants that we sell are homegrown on site, giving our Designers the benefit to have their favorite plant palettes custom grown for their designs. Homeowners are welcomed to the garden center to see and touch the plants during proposal presentations.
The successful Landscape Designer at Bedner’s is equal parts designer, salesperson, and project manager. The Landscape Designer exemplifies Bedner’s Core Values and leads all aspects of the landscape design and installation projects including sales, client communication, design, and preparing estimates. In addition to being creative and efficient with design, the Landscape Designer must be detail-oriented, highly organized, and comfortable working with both numbers and people.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 5-star customer service and present the Bedner brand with professionalism and courtesy.
- Consultation visits and site analysis at the homeowner’s property
- Create designs and estimates that are high quality, uniquely creative, fairly priced, and profitable.
- Achieve a minimum yearly sales goal of $500,000
- Effectively communicate and collaborate with the homeowners and Landscape Team
Education, Experience, Skills and Strengths:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Design, a related area, or the equivalent of hands on training and experience.
- An understanding of construction as it relates to landscape design.
- At least two years related experience in designing, estimating, and working with residential clients.
- Excellent customer service and sales skills.
- Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills.
- Mastery in creating hand drawn or computer-generated designs to scale.
- Horticulture expertise and strong plant identification of perennials, shrubs, and trees in the Western PA habitat is essential.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, time sensitive environment
- Valid PA Drivers License and reliable transportation
Job Type: Full time, year round.
Pay and Benefits:
- Base Annual Salary range of $40,000 – $50,000 based on experience, plus additional no-cap commission rate of 2.5% to 6%

Landscape Foreman
Love working outdoors and creating beautiful landscapes? Looking for an opportunity for career growth and to lead your own landscape crew? Then our Landscape Team has a place for you!
The Landscape Foreman is a working supervisor of one or more crews in the planning, organizing and development of plant and hardscape installations at a job site.
Does the following describe you?
- At least 3+ years of landscape and hardscape experience in a supervisory role.
- Verbal and written communication skills to be an effective team member, to provide excellent customer service, and to maintain job documentation.
- Extensive gardening experience with knowledge of perennial and woody plants, as well as landscape/hardscape design concepts and applications.
- Able to work independently in the comprehension and implementation of a design.
- Knowledge of techniques and equipment for planting, growing, and maintaining plants in a landscape, gardening tools and equipment, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.
- Ability to drive a skid steer and dump truck.
Compensation Package
Pay range: $20 – $30 hour

Landscape Crew Leader
The Landscape Crew Leader directs crew members in daily operations, including quality control, training, punctuality and safety.
Required Skills and Experience
- At least 3+ years of landscape and hardscape experience.
- Verbal and written communication skills to be an effective team member, to provide excellent customer service, and to maintain job documentation.
- Thorough knowledge of standard practices, materials, tools, and equipment utilized in landscaping work.
- Working knowledge of horticultural practices, annuals, perennials, trees and shrubs.
- Ability to assign and supervise the work of others, provide instruction and leadership.
- Ability to drive a skid steer and dump truck.
Compensation
Pay range: $16 – $19 hour

Landscape Crew
The Landscape Crew prepares the work site; installs plants, landscape lighting, and hardscape features; hauls and spreads topsoil, mulch, stones, and other landscape materials; rakes leaves; and prunes perennials, shrubs and trees.

Pay range: $16 and up
