Job Openings

  • Food Truck Associate

    Help us to enhance our customer experience with food and refreshments at our food truck. Work schedule is every Wednesday from 1:00-8:00pm and every Saturday from 9:00am – 4:00pm.

    Here is a list of some of the tasks you would perform:

    • greeting customers and taking their food orders on our tablet.
    • process sales with cash or credit card payments.
    • prepare food by washing, chopping and slicing fresh vegetables.
    • cook food in the fryer and on the grill.
    • prepare and maintain the food truck and work area by restocking and cleaning.

    In addition to the above description, here are additional skills qualified candidates need to have and work conditions:

    • able to work quickly and efficiently under pressure during the lunch rush.
    • able to process sales on the mobile table app and troubleshoot when the app or hardware isn’t working.
    • able to prioritize tasks and the timing of customer orders.
    • previous food service experience required.
    • be able to work outdoors in all types of weather.

  • Seasonal Farmer

    Help us to bring the joy of fresh plants and healthy produce to our community. Join us in our mission to equip home gardeners to grow their own food, as well as ensure healthy crops in our fields and greenhouses. The Produce Manager is both a customer service and a labor position of about nine months of the year, approximately April – December.

    Here is a list of some of the tasks you would perform:

    • assist with greenhouse production of our herb and vegetable plants
    • merchandise displays and customer service in the Herb and Veggie department of the garden center
    • field and greenhouse crop succession, planting, harvesting, and packing
    • scouting and biological, chemical, and environmental controls
    • in-store merchandising of the produce department
    • sales and branding to include the Bedner Bag CSA program, u-pick, Market Wagon, and both onsite / offsite events
    • offer learning opportunities to the public to showcase the farm
    • solidify relationships with both retail and wholesale customers
    • staff training and retention
    • FSMA compliance and best practices

    Education, Experience, Skills and Strengths:

    • BS in Horticulture, or related field such as Floriculture, Ornamental Crop Production, or Agriculture; or 3+ years of relevant production horticulture experience
    • Ability to apply general horticulture knowledge to crop production and understanding of the drivers for plant health and yield improvement
    • Strong organizational and prioritization skills
    • Strong attention to detail and process orientation
    • Strong and effective communication skills
    • Ability to lift 50+ lbs. and work in an agriculture-like environment with large equipment, agrichemical products, and varying degrees of weather conditions while maintaining strong work ethic and attention to detail

  • Greenhouse Production Assistant

    Help us to bring the joy of plants and gardening to our community. Join us in growing exceptional quality plants in 17 production greenhouses. Part-time or full-time seasonal positions for the spring are available. Work hours in the extended season beyond spring may be available in other departments.

    Here is a list of some of the tasks you would perform:

    • unload delivery trucks of plant material
    • fill pots and trays with soil, either by hand or with a machine
    • transplanting seedlings or cuttings by hand
    • water, prune, and weed for optimal plant health and maintenance
    • scout crops for pest and disease monitoring
    • assist Management with pesticide and growth regulator applications
    • assist in transporting plants from the production greenhouses to the retail garden center

    In addition to the above description, qualified candidates will possess these skills:

    • ability to apply general horticulture knowledge to crop production and understanding of the drivers for plant health
    • able to perform water and soil tests
    • ability to lift 25+ lbs and work in extreme weather conditions
    • flexible availability, including weekends and holidays

    Education and Experience required:

    • Bachelors degree in Horticulture or a closely related field, or a minimum of 5+ years of growing experience and training as demonstrated through work history
    • PA Certified Pesticide Applicator license

    Job Type: Both Part-time or Full-time positions available.

  • Sales Associate - Perennial & Nursery

    Be a part of the Team at one of the tri-state area’s biggest and best garden centers. We are looking for Sales Associates with plant knowledge expertise in perennials, trees, and shrubs. This is both a customer service and labor position, working outdoors in all weather conditions. Part-time, full-time, and seasonal positions are available.

    Here is a list of some of the tasks you would perform:

    • assist customers with plant selection in the garden center, with a primary focus in the Perennial & Nursery department
    • restock plant benches from the production greenhouses and from deliveries
    • unload trucks with deliveries of plants
    • create attractive and educational merchandise displays
    • maintain plants to include watering, weeding, pruning, and deadheading

    In addition to the above description, qualified candidates will possess these skills:

    • plant identification and horticulture knowledge, specifically with perennials, trees, and shrubs
    • knowledge of basic landscape design principles to assist customers with plant selections
    • flexible availability, including weekends and holidays.
    • technology skills to operate our point of sale system, our scheduling software, and Google applications
    • excellent communication and customer service skills

    Required experience:

    • horticulture or landscape design degree, training, or previous green industry experience a big plus.

    • coordinate and monitor the daily activities the Perennial & Nursery department staff
    • interview, hire, train, schedule and develop staff
    • create educational and inspirational merchandise displays
    • seek out and research industry trends and new plants
    • perennial, tree and shrub inventory management to include ordering, pricing, and physical counts

    In addition to the above description, qualified candidates will possess these skills:

    • ability to think critically and assist with strategic planning for the future

    The Landscape Foreman is a working supervisor of one or more crews in the planning, organizing and development of plant and hardscape installations at a job site.

    Does the following describe you? 

    • At least 3+ years of landscape and hardscape experience in a supervisory role.
    • Verbal and written communication skills to be an effective team member, to provide excellent customer service, and to maintain job documentation.
    • Extensive gardening experience with knowledge of perennial and woody plants, as well as landscape/hardscape design concepts and applications.
    • Able to work independently in the comprehension and implementation of a design.
    • Knowledge of techniques and equipment for planting, growing, and maintaining plants in a landscape, gardening tools and equipment, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.
    • Ability to drive a skid steer and dump truck.

  • Landscape Crew Leader

    The Landscape Crew Leader directs crew members in daily operations, including quality control, training, punctuality and safety.

    Required Skills and Experience

    • At least 3+ years of landscape and hardscape experience.
    • Verbal and written communication skills to be an effective team member, to provide excellent customer service, and to maintain job documentation.
    • Thorough knowledge of standard practices, materials, tools, and equipment utilized in landscaping work.
    • Working knowledge of horticultural practices, annuals, perennials, trees and shrubs.
    • Ability to assign and supervise the work of others, provide instruction and leadership.
    • Ability to drive a skid steer and dump truck.

    The Landscape Crew prepares the work site; installs plants, landscape lighting, and hardscape features; hauls and spreads topsoil, mulch, stones, and other landscape materials; rakes leaves; and prunes perennials, shrubs and trees.
