Growing Joy, One Plant at a Time
If you’re reading this, chances are you’re someone who finds joy in plants and gardening. You already know the magic — and you’ve probably heard us say it before here at Bedner’s: our mission is all about Nurturing Growth — of both plants and people. We believe that gardening makes us happier, healthier, and more connected, and we see it in action every day.
Last week, I had the joy of sharing that message at the South West Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Impactful Women Tea, where over 70 women gathered for an afternoon of connection and inspiration. Our landscape designer, Maddison, and I gave a talk on perennial gardening (you can catch the highlights over on our blog!).
To kick things off, I wanted everyone to hear just how powerful plants truly are. Study after study shows that when plants are present in places like hospitals and classrooms, people heal faster, require less medication, feel calmer, and even perform better on tests. Just looking at greenery through a window can lift our mood, sharpen our thinking, and improve our well-being. Isn’t that incredible?
It was such a treat to step away from the farm for a day of tea and conversation with a few of the amazing women from our team. In fact, 35 strong women in horticulture help make Bedner’s what it is. I’m so grateful for each and every one of them — and for you, our community, who shares in this joy of growing

With gratitude,

Melanie has been with the family garden center business since 1999, gaining hands-on experience in nearly every aspect–from cashiering and greenhouse production to bookkeeping, perennial buying, marketing, and store management. Now serving as Finance and Marketing Director, she combines her expertise with a passion for growing the business. She and her husband, Russ, have loved seeing how plants, gardening, and beautiful landscapes bring joy to our community.
