Meet a Community Market Day Vendor: GrifWorks
Business Name:
GrifWorks, LLC
Where do you live?
Mt Lebanon
How many years have you had your business?
I started my blog in 2010, published my first Travel Journal in 2017, and began sewing Travel Bags last winter.
What made you want to start this business?
The blog and Travel Journals are a natural part of being a writer and striving toward publishing novels. There were a few years my husband had an international job and I was in a position to take many of those trips with him. Already an avid travel, seeing many new places in Europe turned the blog more from random musings (although I still digress a lot!) to being about travel.
The Travel Bags came out of the sewing I started doing during the winter of 2019-2020 and evolved as the inability to travel continued. I made clothing gifts for my sisters, odds and ends for friends, then started pondering traveling and what I would want to take with me—the bags were born!
What’s your favorite part about what you do?
As a writer, you’re stuck at the computer—or paper—to do your work. Sewing colorful bags is a marvelous way to be creative, but get away from words.
Do you have any employees?
Just me!
What are your future goals for the business?
I see Travel Bags & Travel Journals as going hand-in-hand. I would like to continue to sell both to help other people enjoy their journeys.
Interesting facts about you and/or your journey as a business owner?
A vagabond by nature, I’ve lived in the same house since my husband and I got together in 2009. I stopped counting moves in my 30s, so the longevity of this address makes me laugh. Attending your Community Market Days as been a great introduction to the kindness of fellow vendors and refreshing long-buried marketing skills. Thank you for starting it!
Besides our Community Market Days, how else can the public buy from you?
