Meet a Community Market Day Vendor: Michele’s Creatives

Business Name:

Michele’s Creatives

Where do you live?

I live in Penn Hills with my grandkids living just across the street from me.  My love for them inspires me. Their opinions and insights are clever and much of what I do goes through them first.

What made you want to start this business?

I have had physical issues and was looking for something to creates while watching tv or in a more comfortable environment. I have a painting background and graduated from Carnegie Mellon with an art degree. Color, texture and light have always been my passion whether I was painting a large canvas, teaching a class or making my bright colored soft animals. I mix my love for animals and the brilliant colors of today’s fabrics, threads, buttons and have fun doing it. I always wanted to make something three dimensional at my leisure. Whether I sew an elephant or make a silly monkey, it is all done in love and fun. My animals are made from my patterns and nothing comes without my idea of aesthetic and color mixing.

What’s your favorite part about what you do?

My favorite thing about my creatures is the smiles I can bring to customers.  When I started making animals, I said if I can’t sell them, I can give them to kids.  Well I can do both when it appeals to me.

Do you have any employees?

I usually make things myself but have help cutting or stuffing when I get really busy around Christmas.

Besides our Community Market Days, how else can the public buy from you?

My animals can be bought from me directly and I can be contacted by email michelescreatives@gmail.com or text to 412-780-7026
