Thanks to everyone who shared photos of their hydrangeas last week! I love to hear from you.
Janice G. said she purchased hers about three years ago from Bedner’s and now has ‘100’s of blooms, couldn’t count them. I quit buying my hydrangeas from big box stores, they never perform like my bushes from Bedner’s.’ We can take a tiny bit of credit for providing healthy plants, but you planted them in the perfect spot, Janice, and are obviously doing something right!
Debbie G. thanked Russ for his video on pinching back branches in spring. ‘Now there are more blooms and no broken branches after a storm.’ This is the hydrangea tree pruning video that Debbie is talking about. We’ve learned the hard way that not pruning leads to floppy branches and the potential for a big mess. Ours normally bloom the beginning of September.

And Happy Anniversary Russ! I’m so thankful to live this plant-nerd life with you. Russ introduced me to plants back in high school when we started dating. Eventually, I worked at the greenhouse during college breaks, and my knowledge and love of plants and the plant life grew. After eight years of dating, we got married on July 31, 2004. We took pre-ceremony photos on Suzi’s porch—yes, it was lined with dragonwing hanging baskets even then! Cheers to 20+ years of doing what we love together, Russ.
